This workshop invites you to immerse yourself in a unique experience where embroidery and writing merge to weave memories of water in Bogotá. Through textile maps and micro-stories, we will explore how bodies of water have shaped our city and our personal histories. Each session combines creative writing exercises with basic embroidery techniques, allowing participants to create unique pieces that reflect their connection with water.
The program includes four in-person meetings where we will share readings, imaginary journeys, and textile practices. No prior experience in embroidery or writing is needed; just bring your curiosity and willingness to create. The atmosphere is collaborative and relaxed, ideal for disconnecting from routine and connecting with other art and memory lovers.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothes, bringing a notebook and a pen. The workshop takes place in an accessible and well-lit space. Arrive 10 minutes early to settle in and meet other participants. Embroidery materials will be provided, but feel free to bring special fabrics or threads if you have them.
The venue is the Idartes Cultural Development Center, a space dedicated to promoting arts in Bogotá. With a trajectory of over a decade, Idartes organizes workshops and events that foster citizen participation and creativity. This workshop is part of its art and memory program, which seeks to resignify urban spaces and narratives.
